The Han Solo movie might not have an official name yet, but it does have a composer. Today on StarWars.com it was announced that John Powell will be composing the score for this upcoming film.
Powell is an Oscar nominated composer from the United Kingdom. He composed the music for How to Train Your Dragon, and the sequel that followed. He also composed the music for the Bourne series, Shrek, and Kung Fu Panda (and the second one). His Oscar nomination came from the score he composed for How to Train Your Dragon.
Now Powell becomes the third composer to score a Star Wars film. John Williams has composed 8 scores, Michael Giacchino one, and now Powell will join this illustrious group of composers. According to StarWars.com, this score will be in the style of the original Star Wars films but also have "Powell's distinctive voice."
The untitled Han Solo movie is now being directed by Ron Howard and is set to be released on May 25, 2018. What do you think of this news about the score for this movie?
