Disney to Produce Live Action ‘The Little Mermaid’ with Music from Alan Menken & Lin-Manuel Miranda

Get ready for a brand new live action Disney film! On Tuesday, the internet flooded with waves of excitement as the Walt Disney Company announced The Little Mermaid as its latest live action film project.

According to Deadline, the film will include music from Lin-Manuel Miranda and of course, Alan Menken! Both old and new songs are said to used in the upcoming film.

Miranda and Menken will write the songs together. Marc Platt will produce the film along with Miranda, in a configuration just set by Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production.

The 1989 animated classic, which to many, houses some of the top Disney songs of all time. With this new adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson’s work officially in play, audiences are eagerly awaiting for what’s to come.

Just to recap, we have many more live action films to look froward to, including; Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book 2, Cruella, Maleficent 2, Dumbo, Mulan, Winnie the Pooh, Pinocchio, Genies, Night on Bald Mountain and The Sword in the Stone.
