Music geeks around the world can heave a big sigh of relief. John Williams is confirmed to compose the scores to both Indiana Jones 5 and also Star Wars Episode VIII.
The news confirming Indiana Jones 5 comes from the American Film Institute’s event honoring John Williams where Steve Spielberg confirmed to Scott Mantz of Access Hollywood that Williams will be scoring the next Indiana Jones movie. He will be joining Harrison Ford, who returns as the title character, and director Steven Spielberg. Indiana Jones 5 is slated to hit theaters on July 19, 2019.

The confirmation that Williams would return to score Star Wars Episode VIII came from Variety. John Williams told them simply that he would be returning to score the films for as long as he is able saying:
If I can do it, I certainly will. I told Kathy Kennedy I’m happy to do it, but the real reason is, I didn’t want anybody else writing music for Daisy Ridley.
Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, has a musical theme in the Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens soundtrack that quickly became a fan favorite. With the main production wrapping up for Star Wars Episode VIII, John Williams newest Star Wars score will soon (a year and a half won’t be soon enough though) be heard. Star Wars Episode VIII will soar to theaters on December 15, 2017.
What do you think of the news of John Williams returning to score the soundtracks for these two movies? What do you hope will come from them?
