In Disney’s upcoming film, Pete’s Dragon, there is someone very important to the story…Elliott the Dragon. With a handful of photos and a recent trailer, audiences knew very little of what Elliott would look like. From his facial expression to his size, we wondered!
Entertainment Weekly shared an exclusive image of Elliott. With his green color scheme to a fluffy fur like covered body, he is a bit different from the 1977 Disney animated version.
Director David Lowery told the site, “Certain things about the original design we loved: Big jaw, big snout, and a clumsy quality that we really wanted to not completely forget about.”
After observing various “funny animal videos,” according the article, the team finally figure out the latest rendition of Elliott. Production designer Jade Healy said, “There’s one video of a giant panda tumbling in his cave, and we looked at that again and again as our Elliott — this big animal who just doesn’t know what to do with his body.”
Pete’s Dragon opens in theaters on August 12. What do you think of Elliott’s look?
