Throughout the past couple months, Disney Parks Blog shared with readers a behind-the-scenes look at Tangled: The Musical. With the film already having a large following, a live production only made sense.

Plot line:

Follow Rapunzel’s journey as she escapes the confines of her tower and the clutches of her evil sham of a mother who conceals the truth about Rapunzel’s royal roots. Rapunzel and Flynn strike up an unlikely friendship and, when an unexpected romance blossoms between the adventurous pair, together they face down ruffians and thugs. But dare they defy Mother Gothel?

In addition to the onstage action and adventure, musical elements from composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater, can be heard throughout the production. Together they have adapted the film’s music to fit perfectly with the live production. With songs like “When Will My Life Begin,” “Mother Knows Best,” “I’ve Got a Dream” and “I See the Light” featured, there are also three new songs to listen for. The new songs are titled as “Flower of Gold,” “Wanted Man” and “When the Princess Returns.”

On top of the music and well know characters, the production also houses a very special character, Maximus. According to the Disney Cruise Line website, master puppet designer, Michael Curry, has created a way to bring this character to life right before your eyes.

From outstanding costumes, set designs and puppetry, this production is surely one to check out. Currently, Tangled: The Musical can only be found on the Disney Cruise Lines’s Disney Magic.
