 SPOILERS

Alright, if you are reading this still… you have been warned. This isn’t a massive spoiler but Director Colin Trevorrow did want people to be surprised by the initial reveal of what was formerly known as the the D-Rex.

First off, the D-Rex (short for Diabolus Rex) is no longer the proper name for this dino. It will now be known as the Indominus Rex (I-Rex… did Apple create this dinosaur?) The name means fierce, untamable king… which seems appropriate from what we know about the film. It is a hybrid of Tyrannosaurus Rex, Velociraptor, a Cuttlefish and a Death Adder. This whole hybrid concept should come as no surprise to fans of the franchise as gaps in the DNA sequence were filled with hybrid technology in the original Jurassic Park. Photos of Indominus Rex actually came from what appears to be some birthday party decorations/plates. A better look may appear during a Super Bowl commercial but here is the first look (the next trailer will be better I think)

Here’s what Indominus Rex will look like:

So what do you think?

It’s interesting looking at the Indominus Rex because I can definitely see how he is the hybrid of what was mentioned before, particularly the Raptor. I’m guessing T-Rex helps with the size. The cuttlefish thing could be interesting as they are known to be incredibly intelligent and also have some neurotoxins in their saliva… which could be bad for those it pursues. Then there is the Death Adder or Acanthophis… these snakes are known to ambush their prey (much like the clever Velociraptors). They use their tails as bait and then when the prey shows interest, they lash out faster than any other snake in the world with their venomous fangs that cause paralysis that leads to complete respiratory shutdown within six hours… now imagine that in a massive predatory dinosaur combined with all those other qualities I mentioned and you have the Indominus Rex. Oh, and don’t forget the franchise too so all of these things will probably be enhanced a bit?

So what do you think of Indomius Rex? Are you looking forward to this movie or have they gone too far off the deep end? I personally think it’s going to be a terrifyingly great movie that will hopefully ignite the imagination of my childhood as Jurassic Park did two decades ago.

Make it a GREAT day!
