Artwork for Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration Merchandise Revealed

There is no better way to commemorate the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration than with some extra special merchandise. Disney Parks Blog has shared artwork and information on what guests can look forward to in May. With over 500 new types of merchandise items in the works such as pins, apparel, decor and more, this is the year to add to your Disney collection.

Cody Reynolds, Disney Design Group Creative Manager, spoke to Disney Parks Blog about some of the inspiration behind the artwork for the 60th Anniversary celebration. This first concept in called the the ‘Character’ collection. Here we see iconic characters and attractions that make the Disneyland Resort so memorable. If you look at this art concept, you will see that each panel is separated by years. These panels have been formed into a timeline representing the progression and development of Disney icons. This can be noted from starting left to right. At first we see black and white than transition to color. Each panel represents 15 years. Here is what Cody had to say on this concept, “The palette is retro in style but has a slightly modern twist. We thought about diamonds as a precious heirloom that can be passed down through generations or can be a promise of a bright new future. We wanted the art to speak to the special moments and memories that our fans have shared over the years, but we also wanted to celebrate the bright, amazing future still ahead and the generations of guests that will continue to share in the experience.”

The ‘Character’ Collection

Up next is the the ‘Castle’ collection. “We wanted to capture the heart of Disneyland and the love that so many people have for it. Sleeping Beauty Castle to us is that heart. A centerpiece you can find day or night, glistening with magical diamond dust,” said Cody.

The ‘Castle’ Collection

Last but not least, this collection is titled the ‘Diamond’ collection. Though simple, it gives an element of elegance. Cody went on to mention, “We wanted to create a line based on the shape and qualities of an actual diamond, multi-faceted, unique and endlessly reflective. It’s what Disneyland represents to so many of us. It gave our artists the opportunity to create rare and special pieces and provide something magical to our guests that we hope will last forever.”

The ‘Diamond’ Collection

In each of these new collections and artwork styles, there has been so much thought and detail put in place behind it all. Now this just being a quick sneak peek from the Disney Parks Blog, there is so much more magic to be revealed on Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration merchandise.

In addition to these new items to be released in May, there is also information about a new pin series. Starting January 31, 2015, till July 2015, a new pin will be released each month in the shape of a diamond. These pins will take a look back at some of the most inspirational quotes and moments of Walt Disney. In the shape of diamonds, these pins are truly spectacular.
