Disney Helps Build A Playground

Disney is proud to announce a new playground built at Modjeska Park in West Anaheim in just one day with the help of 200 volunteers from the city of Anaheim, Anaheim Family YMCA and Disney VoluntEARS. Modjeska Park joins Schweitzer Park (Anaheim), Boys & Girls Club (Santa Ana), Stoddard Park (Anaheim), and Edison Park (Anaheim) as the fifth project of this kind Disney has participated in over the last two years in Orange County. KaBOOM! uses a community-build model nationwide and has invigorated over two thousand parks across the country in the last 17 years.

For this project, Disney VoluntEARS were made up of Disneyland executives—including Disneyland Resort President Michael Colglazier—as well as students from the Disney College Program. This playground is one of more than 40 Disney has supported around the country. The five playgrounds in Orange County give over 7,000 children a place to play. Colgazier reminds us that, “The Disneyland Resort was created as a place where children and parents could share magical experiences and spend meaningful time together.” This project where Disney helps build a playground carries on that legacy in the community of Anaheim.

Disney VoluntEARS is a company-wide program that has roots going back to 1983 with the Disneyland Community Action Team. Launched in 1992 across the entire Walt Disney Company, the program works across the globe making a positive impact on communities focusing where Disney business units operate.

The Disney College Program is an internship-based program in the United States at the Walt Disney Resort and Disneyland Resort. Beginning in 1981 at Magic Kingdom Park with 200 students, the program has expanded to both coasts with an average of 4,000 students.
