Ragtime Piano Takes a Break From Coke Corner

DAPs Magic Disney News – by Mr. DAPs

Guests visiting Disneyland since Thursday may have noticed that things are a bit different at Coke Corner. Windows are blackened. Doors are closed. The piano is missing. This is all due to a major refurbishment happening on Main Street, USA on the northwest corner of the street. The transition began when the former Annual Passport center was closed and made into the recently opened Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe. This opened on Friday January 5, 2012.

While the shops and restaurants on the northwest side of Main Street, USA are being refurbished, the piano and the ragtime piano players will be playing aboard the Mark Twain. This was first seen on Thursday when Patrick was found circling the Rivers of America on the lowest deck of the Mark Twain. Friday found Ragtime Robert inside the Golden Horseshoe Saloon. According to cast members at the Rivers of America dock, there was a logistics issue involving the piano and preparing for Fantasmic!  For the weekend currently, piano players will be playing between Billy Hill and the Hillbillies shows throughout the day between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. If cast members are correct, the piano should be returning to the Mark Twain on Monday January 9, 2012.

Here are videos from Patrick aboard the Mark Twain and Ragtime Robert inside the Golden Horseshoe Saloon.

It’s nice that the piano players can still work at Disneyland while the refurbishment is under way :)
