AVATAR is Coming to Disney Theme Parks

This morning at a press conference with Bob Iger and Tom Staggs at Walt Disney Imagineering, it was announced that the world of James Cameron’s AVATAR is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World. This is part of a creative partnership between between The Walt Disney Company, James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment and Fox Filmed Entertainment.

The Walt Disney Company believes that Avatar will be a natural fit with Disney’s Animal Kingdom as they share the common themes of adventure, living in harmony with nature along with environmental stewardship.

Currently this project is in the design phase. Construction is expected to begin at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2013. With two sequels in the works for AVATAR, there will be no shortage of ideas for future attractions and experiences. James Cameron, Jon Landau, and Lightstorm Entertainment will act as creative consultants for this projects.

  1. How about a great big NO. I think this is a poor fit considering how many great animal/adventure/nature movies Disney has to choose from in their own library. No no no.
