Avengers Endgame: Encore won the weekend at the box office. The film brings Avengers: Endgame back to the big screen with some additional scenes and was received enthusiastically by fans who relived the initial excitement they felt in 2019 when the film was first in theaters. This re-release was the second-highest global debut ever.
Over the course of the weekend, Encore earned an estimated $86 million at the global box office. $26 million of this came from the domestic box office, and $60 million came from international audiences. This successful weekend contributed to the overall success of Marvel Studios. It pushed Marvel Studios to $35.075 billion at the box office with the cumulation of its 38 films. This makes the Marvel Cinematic Universe the most successful film franchise in history.
Cumulatively, Avengers: Endgame has now earned $2.885 billion at the global box office. This puts it in the number two spot for all-time box office numbers. It is currently only $39 million behind Avatar, which comes from Disney’s 20th Century Studios.
The release of Avengers Endgame: Encore comes ahead of the arrival of Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026. The additional scenes in Encore connect some dots between this film and Doomsday. Anthony and Joe Russo direct both films. When fans see Doomsday in December, they will also recognize many familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the familiar faces will be Robert Downey Jr. He will not be portraying Iron Man, however. Instead, he will play Doctor Doom.
