On this day in 2011, the cab of the California Zephyr arrived at its new home at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum in Portola, California. The cab once housed Bur-r-Bank Ice Cream and Baker’s Field Bakery at Disney’s California Adventure. Before that, it was part of a real locomotive that traveled between Chicago and San Francisco in the 1950s and 1960s. Disney donated the 19-ton cab, train parts, and artifact displays to the museum to become part of a new Zephyr Project exhibit. A redesigned Buena Vista Street took over the space at DCA.
