It has been a big couple of weeks for Pixar Animation Studios. After the excitement that led to the reveal that Taylor Swift contributed to Toy Story 5, the film was released. This release has been the strongest of the year and is being very positively received. With Toy Story 5 now in theaters, Pixar has revealed a look at its next film, Gatto. Beautiful artwork for the film was shared at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2026.
Disney and Pixar also revealed concept art and a title for an upcoming animated short. The short is called Loving Dory. It takes place in the ever-growing water-world of Nemo, Dory, and Marlin. First-time director Lou Hamou-Lhadj (Borrowed Time, Win or Lose) and producer Mary Alice Drumm (Coco, Elio) were on hand for the reveal. The conceit for this short film really is adorable. Here is the official description:
Dory confuses a plastic bag for a gentle jellyfish and is moved by its curious nature. She falls head-over-fins in love, but it doesn’t take long for her new romantic entanglement to escalate from a little clingy to outright toxic — and in desperate need of intervention.
During the reveal, it was shared that Ellen DeGeneres will be returning to voice Dory. Other original cast members will also be returning. The original Finding Nemo composer, Thomas Newman, will be returning as an executive producer. Nami Melumad (Dream Productions) is writing the score for this short. Concept art for the short was also shared. It can be seen here:

It isn’t known exactly when Loving Dory will be released. It is possible that it will be released ahead of Gatto. What do you think of what you are seeing of Loving Dory? Are you excited to see it when it is eventually released? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
