Ellen DeGeneres initially voiced Dory in Pixar’s Finding Nemo in 2003. She went on to perform the character in Finding Dory, shorts, in theme parks, and more. 23 years later, she is returning to the role in a new short from Pixar Animation Studios. All that is known is that she is returning to the role.

When she debuted in the role of Dory in Finding Nemo, she was part of an incredible voice cast. Albert Brooks voiced Marlin, and Alexander Gould voiced Nemo. Andrew Stanton was the director. In the film, Marlin pairs up with Dory in search of his lost son, Nemo. The film did very well at the box office and went on to win Best Animated Feature at the Oscars.
Dory proved to be very popular with fans and eventually led to a sequel in 2016 that focused on the character. Finding Dory was also directed by Andrew Stanton. It also saw incredible success at the box office, earning over $1 billion globally.
DeGeneres lent her voice as Dory to both films, shorts, and attractions, including Disneyland’s Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage. Video of this attraction can be seen here:
