Masai Giraffe Ivy on Kilimanjaro Safaris

Masai Giraffe Calf Charms Guests on Kilimanjaro Safaris

Earlier this spring, a Masai giraffe calf named Ivy was born. Just months after her April birth, Ivy made her savanna debut. She can now be seen by guests who are experiencing the Kilimanjaro Safaris. She is found with her mother, Willow.

Ivy already weighs almost 300 pounds, Disney shared. She also stands approximately 7/1/2 feet tall! As she grows (quickly), she is showing off her curious personality. She is doing so with her observations of the herd and also exploring her surroundings.

Masai giraffes are classified as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. There are an estimated 30,000 remaining around the globe.

Disney works with experts through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan to help care for giraffes and support a healthy population for generations to come.

Ivy is now a part of this plan and has joined her half-brother Tucker with the herd on Kilimanjaro Safaris. What do you think of this milestone for Ivy and the Masai giraffe herd? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
