The Disneyland 70th Celebration continues at the Disneyland Resort, and soon Disneyland Magic Key Holders will have a chance to purchase an exclusive item. A special popcorn bucket inspired by King Arthur Carrousel will be available on Thursday, May 14.
King Arthur Carrousel is one of the original opening day attractions at Disneyland Park from July 17, 1955. The King Arthur Carrousel and most of its horses date back more than 90 years. This magical masterpiece was handcrafted by the Dentzel Carousel Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and eventually found its way to Sunnyside Beach Park in Toronto, Canada, in 1922. When Walt Disney first purchased the revolving menagerie from this location, it featured horses, giraffes, deer, and other animals. He wanted everyone to ride a galloping horse like King Arthur, so additional antique horses were located and incorporated into the renovation.
If you know about the history of Disneyland, you know that Walt was inspired to build Disneyland while watching his daughters ride the merry-go-round at Griffith Park in Los Angeles. When Walt began turning his dream of constructing a theme park into a reality, this beloved attraction became the cornerstone of the design.
The Magic Key King Arthur Carrousel popcorn bucket – specially designed for Magic Key Holders by Disney artist Ashley Taylor – spins, lights up, and even plays music! This special popcorn bucket will be available while supplies last at select popcorn carts throughout Disneyland Park.
