On this day in 1906, voice actor, sound effects wizard, drummer, and Disney Legend Jimmy MacDonald was born. MacDonald started at the new Disney Sound Effects Department in 1934. He recorded a huge library of sound effects over his 48-year career from his hand-built machines and his own voice. Walt Disney handpicked MacDonald to take over for him as the voice of Mickey Mouse, a role he held from 1946 to 1977. He also voiced Chip, Jaq, and Gus, and was a founding member of the Firehouse Five Plus Two band. [120 years ago in 2026]
