April 26th is National Pretzel Day. If you are Wetzel’s Pretzels, it’s “National Wetzel Day.” The holiday that was undoubtedly a favorite of Stanley from The Office will be celebrated at the Wetzel’s Pretzels location at the Disneyland Resort’s Downtown Disney District. For its celebration, Wetzel’s Pretzels will be offering a free original pretzel per person from 3:00 PM until it closes in the evening. This celebration is also being called “Wetz Fest.”

The following flyer was shared by a friend of Daps Magic, Spencer:
National Pretzel Day isn’t as old a holiday as others. Its official origins date back to 2003, when Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell declared April 26th as National Pretzel Day. There are some claims that the holiday started as far back as 1983. However, 2003 is when the official declaration was made. The pretzel has a long history with Pennsylvania. The first pretzel bakery opened in Lititz, PA, in the 1800s. Today, 80% of the nation’s pretzels are made in Pennsylvania.
It is believed that pretzels were invented by Christians of one type or another. On account of them has them being invented around 610 A.D. by Italian monks who made them as rewards for children. It is said that the crossing of the pretzels was shaped to resemble arms crossed in prayer. Other accounts have them coming from France. Eventually, Pennsylvania Dutch immigrants would introduce pretzels to North America in the 19th century, and history was made.
