Dinosaur - DinoLand U.S.A. - Disney's Animal Kingdom

DinoLand U.S.A. Now Extinct As DINOSAUR Closes at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Over the weekend, DINOSAUR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom saw impressive lines as Disney fans made one last trip back in time in DinoLand U.S.A. The closure of this attraction garnered lines that were over four hours as fans came to say goodbye. In the evening, after the attraction closed, the My Disney Experience App was quickly updated, removing any sign of the attraction and land from the park.

Throughout the day and the days leading up to the attraction’s closure, guests showed up in themed outfits. This was similar to what happened when Muppet*Vision 3D closed last year as well. Here is a look at the attraction as it was before it closed:

Along with DINOSAUR closing, the nearby Restaurantosaurus also ended its run at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at the end of the day on February 1st. This followed other closures for the land last year. This included the closure of Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama, which included TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Dinosaur Treasures in January. Later in the year, the Boneyard closed. Finally, Trilo-Bites and Dino-Bite Snacks closed in October 2025.

Here is a walking tour of DinoLand U.S.A. before things began to close in 2025:

Tropical Americas

The area is now being completely transformed to become the new Tropical Americas area. When completed, this area will include a new Indiana Jones attraction (replacing DINOSAUR), a new attraction based on Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Encanto, a carousel, a playground, a new restaurant, and a gift shop.

The new Encanto attraction will take guests on a visit to Casita. It turns out that this is the day that Antonio received his magical gift, which allows him to speak with animals. Guests will ride aboard furniture on the attraction as they see and experience the characters and their voices from the original animated film. The attraction begins during the film and then goes beyond it.

The carousel in Tropical Americas will be a part of the village of Pueblo Esperanza. The name of the village means “Village of Hope.” The carousel will have hand-carved figures on it, many of which will be familiar. It has already been teased that Kevin from Up will be found on the carousel. The village will also include a fountain where inhabitants come to tell stories.

The Indiana Jones attraction will utilize the same track and ride system as DINOSAUR. It will have a unique story that is different than Indian Jones attractions currently found at Disneyland in California’s Disneyland Resort and DisneySea at Tokyo Disney Resort. This attraction will include a temple with a Mayan backstory and a mythical creature.
