At Destination D23 earlier this year, it was announced that the Carousel of Progress would be getting updated. The main focus of this announcement was that Walt Disney would be added to the attraction in Audio-Animatronic form in the Magic Kingdom attraction. The announcement brought the attraction to the forefront of conversation among Disney fans.

Recently, Walt Disney World Resort announced different things that would be arriving in 2026. The Carousel of Progress was not included in the announcements. The concept art today by Walt Disney Imagineering is not looking toward the future, either, at this point. Instead, it shows the fourth scene from the attraction as it was updated in 1994. This 1993 concept art by Greg Wilzbach inspired scene 4 in the current Carousel of Progress 

The release of this piece of art seems appropriate as Walt Disney World Resort celebrates the holidays, and this scene portrays the Christmas celebration for the family that is followed throughout the attraction. Daps Magic filmed the attraction of the announcement earlier this year. Watch it below and compare the concept art with what eventually ended up as part of the attraction.
