On this day in 1941, the Goofy short ‘The Art of Skiing’ was released in theaters. Goofy tries his hand at “shee-ing” with predictably hilarious results. It is historic as the first cartoon to include Goofy’s trademark holler. Hannes Schroll, an Austrian skier and yodeler, performed the yell. The element was so popular with audiences that it has been included in most Goofy cartoons ever since! ‘The Art of Skiing’ was also a predecessor of Goofy’s “How-to” cartoon series.
