Magic Kingdom Most Visited Theme Park Globally

For the 19th year in a row, the Magic Kingdom is in the top theme park globally for guests to visit. The news comes as the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) published its annual theme park attendance report. This is now called the Global Experience Index.

“The 2024 TEA Global Experience Index marks a new chapter in the long history of this attendance report,” said TEA CEO Melissa Oviedo. “We can now easily grow the report to match the expanding role of themed entertainment in markets around the world. TEA is honored to have distinguished partners like ECA, TPDB, Storyland Studios, and InPark Magazine collaborating on this valuable resource.”

The Magic Kingdom wasn’t the only Disney park to be recognized in TEA’s 2024 Global Experience Index. Here are some other highlights for Disney from this report:

  • Disney holds 8 of the Top 10 most visited theme parks around the world
  • Disney holds the top 5 most visited theme parks in North America
  • Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort remains the top most visited theme park worldwide and also in North America
  • Disneyland remains the second most visited theme park worldwide and in North America
  • Shanghai Disneyland remains the top theme park in China and had a record year
  • Shanghai Disneyland is the fifth most visited theme park globally
  • Hong Kong Disneyland had a record year in 2024
  • Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris is the most visited theme parks in Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA)
  • Typhoon Lagoon continues to be the most visited waterpark in North America

The report also observed some larger trends in the tourism industry. Overall, the combined attendance of the top 25 theme parks globally grew 2.4% in 2024. This amounted to nearly 246 million visitors to these theme parks. It also observed that the leading parks in the “mature markets of the U.S., Japan, and Western Europe saw flat to modest changes in attendance.” In China, the leading internationally bundled parks saw notable growth that continued and also registered record years.
