Disneyland Horse Drawn Street-Car Plaque

New Plaque Installed in Town Square Honoring History of Horse-Drawn Street Car

A new plaque has been installed in Town Square at Disneyland in honor of the Horse-Drawn Street Car. This plaque comes just days before Disneyland celebrates its 70th anniversary on July 17, 2025. The plaque says the following:

Horse-Drawn Street Car

At the turn of the 20th century, horse-drawn street cars traversed the thoroughfares of most towns. A lifelong lover of horses, Walt Disney brought the classic clippety-clop sound of horse hoofs from his childhood in Marceline, Missouri, to Main Street, U.S.A.

Daps Magic team member Steven found this new plaque while visiting Disneyland on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Take a look at the photos he took showing the plaque and its location near where guests can board the Horse-Drawn Street Car to go for a ride to Sleeping Beauty Castle.

The new plaque comes as Disneyland continues to lean into its own personal connection with Walt Disney as the only theme park that he physically walked through. Disneyland has also created a show that honors Walt Disney, the man, in the form of Walt Disney – A Magical Life and its accompanying exhibit in the Opera House. Just outside, a window was dedicated over the weekend to Lillian Disney. In the Golden Horsehoe, a display could be found on Sunday honoring the 100th anniversary of Walt and Lillian Disney as well. The Horse-Drawn Street Cars themselves have also been decorated for the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration.
