On this day in 1930, the Mickey Mouse Club was officially launched by the Fox Midland Theater chain. These were weekly Saturday morning gatherings for children with chapters all over the US. Participants applied to join and were known as “Mickey and Minnie Mice.” At meetings, kids watched ‘Mickey Mouse’ cartoons, recited credos, heard bands, and elected the Chief Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. The clubs gained over 1 million members by 1932! [95 years ago in 2025]
