On this day in 1955, Disneyland opened its gates to guests for the very first time. Around 11,000 special guests and members of the media were invited to the International Press Preview that Sunday, but over 28,000 showed up! The dedication of the park was televised live on ABC. Twenty attractions were running on opening day, including Autopia, the Disneyland Railroad, the Jungle Cruise, the Mark Twain Riverboat, Peter Pan’s Flight, and the King Arthur Carrousel.
