New Earl of Sandwich Building Continues to Take Shape at Downtown Disney District

The new Earl of Sandwich building is continuing to take shape at the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort. This future and permanent home of the Earl of Sandwich is found on the west end of the Downtown Disney District near D-Lander and Avengers Reserve.

When it opens, the new Earl of Sandwich will offer two dining options. It will have the traditional walk-up offering that fans know and love. It will also have The Carnaby Tavern upstairs. This will offer a table service experience for guests that is inspired by the ’60s “British Invasion” pop and rock bands from the U.K. There will be both indoor seating and patio seating, along with an indoor/outdoor full-service bar. Here is concept art of what this new location will look like:

On Sunday, the Daps Magic team stopped by the Disneyland Resort and checked out the progress being made on the Earl of Sandwich. Below is a look at how this restaurant is progressing. A close look shows that the basic frame has been installed, some roofing is in place, and even some stairs have been built! Check out the photos here:

The current Earl of Sandwich, at the entrance to the Esplanade, is scheduled to close sometime in 2025 to make way for Porto’s. An exact closing date has not been announced yet. Opening dates have also not been announced for the new Earl of Sandwich or Porto’s. However, permits have been filed that indicate the building will be demolished, as will two ticket booths nearby in the Esplanade.
