On this day in 1935, the Mickey Mouse short ‘Mickey’s Kangaroo’ was released. A friend in Australia sends Hoppy the kangaroo and her son, Joey, to Mickey as a gift. Mickey wants to train the kangaroos to box, but Hoppy may be more than he can handle. Pluto dislikes the whole situation, but ends up making a friend. ‘Mickey’s Kangaroo’ was the only time Pluto’s thoughts were spoken aloud. It was also the final Disney cartoon to be fully produced in black and white. [90 years ago in 2025]
