A second season of Light & Magic is heading to Disney+. The series will arrive on April 18, 2025. Three episodes will arrive on the date. This season is being directed by ILM’s Joe Johnston. The first season was directed by Lawrence Kasden.

Johnston spoke with Collider where he revealed that the series will pick up after Jurassic Park and continue to move forward. It won’t follow a strictly linear timeline, however. It will show some incredible things though including George Lucas and ILM’s groundbreaking technological work on the development of the Star Wars prequel trilogy. The docu-series will also take a look at Twister, Casper, Pirates of the Caribbean, and War of the Worlds. The docuseries will include interviews and also behind-the-scenes footage of these films.

Along with announcing the second season of Light & Magic, photos were released on social media that gives a look at what is coming. The primary focus of these photos is the prequel trilogy of Star Wars.

Johnston also commented on ILM’s history of innovation saying, “Every time ILM is given a challenge, they figure out how to do it and that advances their abilities and techniques for the next film to come along.
