On this day in 1988, the television special ‘Totally Minnie’ first aired. Minnie teaches social skills at her “Minnie Mouse Center for the Totally Unhip” along with Suzanne Somers, Goofy, Donald Duck, and Pluto. Elton John guest stars and sings a duet of “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” with Minnie. This was Minnie’s first starring role in any film! It was also when Russi Taylor, then-voice actress for Minnie, first met her future husband Wayne Allwine, the voice of Mickey Mouse.
