Moana 2 Mr Daps' Review

‘Moana 2′ – Mr. Daps’ Home Entertainment Review

Moana 2 is now available for home watching by purchasing from digital retailers and soon will be available in disc formats. This sequel has Moana going on a new adventure to the far seas of Oceania with a new crew after receiving a call from her wayfinding ancestors. This movie has new characters, new music, and also some returning favorite friends as well. Below is a review of this release from a digital download that was given to Daps Magic by Disney.

A NEW JOURNEY — In Walt Disney Animation Studios’ all-new feature film “Moana 2,” Moana (voice of Auli‘i Cravalho) must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced. This time Pua the pig is along for the ride. Directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller, and produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino, “Moana 2” features music by Grammy® winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa‘i, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina. The all-new feature film opens in theaters on Nov. 27, 2024. © 2024 Disney Enterprises, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Quality

Watching Moana 2 is a lovely experience. The colors are vibrant and the animation looks better than ever! Some really impressive moments really show how far animation has come since the original Moana was released in 2016. The accompanying audio sounds great in the home theater as well. The new songs, while catchy, aren’t quite as iconic as those from the first film. Overall, it is an enjoyable film to watch in terms of the quality that is offered.

MAUI IS BACK – Walt Disney Animation Studios’ all-new feature film “Moana 2” reunites Moana with Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson) three years later for an expansive new voyage to the far seas of Oceania. Extras

The extras included with the Moana 2 digital download really were enjoyable to watch. They give insights into the making of the film and show the people who made it. The features, in particular, were very enjoyable to watch. My favorite was Call of the Wayfinder. Overall, this was a nice collection of bonus features that are worth watching.

Final Thoughts

Moana 2 isn’t quite as magical or memorable as Moana. However, it is a surprisingly enjoyable movie. It has some tells that it was originally going to be a Disney+ series but overall, it’s a decent movie. I won’t call it a home run but I also don’t regret watching it either. It is a Disney movie that is worth adding to one’s home library. It has heart, the characters are enjoyable, and its story is worth telling. It might even lead to another story that is worth telling. I give this one a solid hat tip.
