On this day in 1949, The Donald Duck holiday cartoon ‘Toy Tinkers’ was released. Jack Hannah directed the short that sees Chip and Dale using toy weapons to try to steal nuts and treats from under Donald’s Christmas tree. Donald won’t stand for it and fights back with his own creative means, leading to an all-out battle. The short was later reissued under the name ‘Christmas Capers.’ Prints of the latter version still exist in the 16mm format. [75 years ago in 2024]
