Pixar: The Official Cookbook Review

Pixar: The Official Cookbook – Mr. Daps’ Review

There are few studios that know how to tell stories like Pixar Animation Studios. Pixar tells beautiful stories with beautiful scenes, characters, animation, and oftentimes food! This holiday season, a new cookbook with recipes inspired by the many stories of Pixar is now available.

Pixar: The Official Cookbook includes over 75 recipes that are inspired by stories like The Adventures of Andre & Wally, Toy Story, Ratatouille, Inside Out, Coco, and many more. This is a book that bills itself as being perfect for cooks of all ages. This seems quite fitting as Chef Gusteau once said, “Anyone can cook!” Is it true? Below are my thoughts on if this book helps empower cooks of all ages to make delicious dishes!

A quick look at Pixar: The Official Cookbook and a reader/cook will see that there is a quick look at the timeline of Pixar Films & Shorts and then pages upon pages of recipes with beautiful photos accompanying them! The cookbook is divided into eras to help find food inspired by favorite films quickly. Things start off with cookies inspired by Luxo Jr.’s Ball This is the perfect start for a cookbook based on Pixar as it shows the iconic ball in cookie form! This recipe isn’t super difficult but it might take a bit of work to get the design right. However, this is a doable recipe that could be fun to make together with loved ones.

Moving through the cookbook, there are plenty of different recipes to be found. They cover just about every part of a meal one could want. There are savory dishes, sweet dishes, desserts, beverages, and more. Each of these recipes is inspired by a Pixar story or character. They also include an introduction that ties the recipe with its inspiration.

Some of the recipes in this cookbook are easier than others. Some may require some adult help for young cooks. Almost all of the recipes should be doable by cooks of any experience level. Some might require some specialized cooking tools. For example, there is one recipe for Ember’s Lollipops that does require a candy thermometer. This might be a bit daunting for some (myself included). However, reading the recipe, it does seem like it isn’t an impossible task to make these lollipops!

Pixar: The Official Cookbook is a fun cookbook for Pixar fans to create dishes and drinks inspired by their favorite Pixar characters and stories. This really is a great cookbook to create meals or treats from with friends or family. It is accessible for cooks of all experience levels and even has a glossary in the back with cooking terms for inexperienced cooks! This is a cookbook that sets the cook up for success! I really enjoyed reviewing this cookbook and give it a solid Hat Nod. This is a great one for a gift for Christmas or just for one’s own kitchen. I can’t wait to work my way through most, if not all, of these recipes!
