Madame Leota's Somewhere Beyond

Photos/Video: Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond Opens at Disneyland

Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond opened today at Disneyland in New Orleans Square. The new shop is located just outside the exit of Haunted Mansion. It continues the story of the Haunted Mansion beyond the mansion itself. This comes after the recent opening of the extended queue of the expanded grounds for the Haunted Mansion, which also continues to expand the story of Madame Leota on the property.

The full story, as told by Disney, for Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond is as follows:

Somewhere Beyond is a carriage house that used to store the same ornate carriage that now remains on the mansion’s front yard. It also contains a boudoir on the mezzanine level. At one point, it was home to the mansion’s head caretaker, but later Madame Leota took up residence. It is filled with her eclectic furniture including a crystal ball, feinting couch and the original parlor chandelier that Leota used in séances at the mansion.

When the first floor of the carriage house became a shop, Leota kindly lent her desks, cabinets and chests as antique artifacts to be showcased along with the merchandise. As a powerful medium moving between worlds, Madame Leota comes and goes a lot and is excited to welcome guests to her home, soon.

On the opening day of Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond, Daps Magic friend Spencer stopped by to check out this new store that Disney had conjured up. The store is intimate and packed with details, including Madame Leota’s cat (the word on the street is that Tombs is the favorite name in the running currently), and other nods to the Haunted Mansion story. This includes a Crystal Ball that has no shortage of magic! There is quite the range of eclectic furniture including a fainting couch and the original parlor chandelier that Leota once used in séances. There are also quite a few musical instruments found in the shop. This appears to be a nod to the seance room in the Haunted Mansion with its floating instruments. There is also a bat lamp that was once found in Le Bat En Rouge in New Orleans Square. The portrait that hangs above the shop honors Disney Imagineer Leota Toombs thomas, the Disne Imagineer whose likness brought Madame Leota to life!

Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond looks great but there are still more decorative work and enhancements coming, Disney has revealed. Disney also shared the following photos of the new location as well:
