On this day in 1974, the 48th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade took place in New York City. During the parade, Bo Donaldson and The Heywoods performed on top of Walt Disney World’s float, which looked like a castle. The band’s song “Billy Don’t Be A Hero” was a huge hit at the time. Multiple Disney characters joined the parade including The Shaggy Dog, Pluto, and Goofy on top of Disney’s wagon float, along with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Peter Pan.
