Price for Venu Sports Streaming Service Revealed

The price for the new Venu sports streaming service has been revealed. Venu is the joint streaming from ESPN, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery. Today itw as revealed that it will cost $42.99 per month when it launches this fall. The service will have a a seven-day free trial. Those who sign up could receive it for the same price for 12 months with the ability to cancel at any time.

Venu Sports is being thought of as a Hulu for sports by some. It will include games from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, WNBA, NASCAR and college sports, and also golf, tennis and soccer. On top of live games, there will also be studio shows, pre- and post-game programs along with access to ESPN’s 30 for 30 library, ESPN Films and documentaries from Fox Sports Film.

Venu (pronounced “venue”) Sports is being considered by some to be the equivalent of Hulu for sports. It will include games from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, WNBA, NASCAR and college sports, as well as golf, tennis and soccer. Besides games, there will be studio shows, pre- and post-game programming and access to ESPN’s 30 for 30 library, ESPN Films and documentaries from Fox Sports Films.

There are 14 linear networks that will be providing content for the streaming service. This includes ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPNEWS, ABC, FOX, FS1, FS2, Big Ten Network, TNT, TBS, truTV — as well as ESPN+. There will also be the option to bundle Venu with other streaming services, including  Disney+, Hulu and/or Max.

“We will launch at a compelling price point that will appeal to the cord cutter and cord never fans currently not served by existing pay TV packages,” Venu Sports CEO Pete Distad said in a statement.

Venu Sports was announced in February as a joint sports streaming venture by ESPN, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery. Each of the companies share a third ownership of the joint venture. While the venture is set to launch in the fall, there are still regulatory hurdles for it to overcome. FuboTV filed an antitrust lawsuit shortly after the joint venture was announced.
