Pixar’s Inside Out 2 continues to make new records. It now holds the distinction of being the highest-grossing animated feature of all time globally. The Pixar sequel has now made $1.46 billion worldwide. This means it has passed Frozen II to take the top spot as highest-grossing animated feature ever.
“Inside Out 2 is a quintessentially Pixar film, and it’s been amazing to see how it has connected so deeply with people all over the world,” Alan Bergman, Co-Chairman, Disney Entertainment, said. “We knew it was really special, but no one could have predicted it would reach these record-breaking heights. We’re grateful to all the fans who have made this the biggest animated film ever.”
Inside Out 2 is also now the 13th highest-grossing film of all time globally. It also just crossed $600 million domestically. The film is not just Pixar’s most successful film, it is also now the most successful animated film from Disney. It is joined by seven other films produced by Pixar or Walt Disney Animation Studios that are in the top ten highest-grossing animated films in history. On top of all of that, the film is also the most successful film in 2024. It also is the only film of the year to cross the $1 billion mark.
Inside Out 2 continues the story of the emotions inside of a little girl named Riley’s head. However, Riley isn’t so little anymore. Now she is a teenager who is facing a bigger world with new situations. With these new things come new emotions. This includes Anxiety (Maya Hawke), Envy (Ayo Edebiri), Ennui (Adèle Exarchopoulos), Embarrassment (Paul Walter Hauser), and Nostalgia (June Squibb). They join returning characters Joy (Amy Pohler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Disgust (Liza Lapira), Fear (Tony Hale), and Anger (Lewis Black). It is directed by Kelsey Mann.
