‘Inside Out 2’ Continues to Reach New Box Office Milestones While Approaching Top Animated Spot

Inside Out 2 continues to be a powerhouse at the box office. Over the weekend, the film brought in $34.2 million globally. This brings its global total to $1,443.3 million. This is $596.4 million domestically $846.9M internationally. This weekend also saw the Pixar film reach a new milestone at the box office as it passed up Avengers: Age of Ultron and its $1,405 million at the global box office. With this achievement, Inside Out 2 is now the 15th most successful movie of all time. It is expected that it will be the 14th most successful film at any point, passing up Barbie and its $1,446 million haul.

Those aren’t the only milestones that the newest Pixar film is expected to reach, however. It currently is only about $11 million from becoming the most successful animated film at the global box office. Currently, Frozen II holds that title. Seeing that Inside Out 2 hasn’t been released in Japan yet, it would be a shock if it doesn’t hit this milestone.

Inside Out 2 is already Pixar’s most successful film and already surpassed The Mario Bros. Movie to become the second most successful animated film. It also was the fastest film to reach $1 billion and also the top movie of 2024 to date. If it keeps moving forward, it could end up being the top animated flick ever. Currently that spot is held by Frozen 2. It earned $1.45 billion globally at the box office.

Inside Out 2 continues the story of the emotions inside of a little girl named Riley’s head. However, Riley isn’t so little anymore. Now she is a teenager who is facing a bigger world with new situations. With these new things come new emotions. This includes Anxiety (Maya Hawke), Envy (Ayo Edebiri), Ennui (Adèle Exarchopoulos), Embarrassment (Paul Walter Hauser), and Nostalgia (June Squibb). They join returning characters Joy (Amy Pohler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Disgust (Liza Lapira), Fear (Tony Hale), and Anger (Lewis Black). It is directed by Kelsey Mann.
