On this day in 1999, ‘Tarzan’ was released in theaters. It was Disney’s 37th animated feature and the last movie considered to be part of the Disney Renaissance. The plot of the film was based on Edgar Rice Burroughs’s novels, ‘Tarzan of the Apes.’ It would be the first film to use Deep Canvas, a new 3D painting and rendering tool. ‘Tarzan’s’ $130 million budget made it the most expensive animated film ever at the time of its release. [25th anniversary in 2024]
