On this day in 2005, the Soarin’ attraction opened inside The Land Pavilion at EPCOT. Soarin’ Over California at Disney California Adventure, featuring a simulated flight over the state, proved to be so popular in 2001 that it was transplanted to Florida. In the EPCOT version, guests are said to be traveling to California, instead of being there already. Soarin’ would open on the same day that Disneyland’s 50th anniversary celebration kicked off in California.
