Official Tailer Released for ‘The Acolyte’ on Star Wars Day

The official trailer for the next live-action Star Wars series has arrived on May the 4th. This comes one month before the first two episodes of this series, The Acolyte, arrives on Disney+. This series takes places about 100 years before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. It seems to be the hight of the Jedi in The Acolyte. However, there are a series of Jedi murders that when investigated lead to a dark new threat. That terrifying threat could threaten the Jedi Order itself it appears. This appears in the final seconds of the trailer. Showrunner Leslye Headland is tight-lipped about the newcomer. “I’ll just say that they’re my favorite character,” Headland told StarWars.com.

Along with the new trailer, a poster was revealed as well. It showcases the assassin MaeMaster SolMaster Indara and her Padawan Torbin, the Wookiee Master KelnaccaMaster Vernestra Rwoh, and the rest of the Jedi Order in its prime. “I hope audiences embrace the duality that exists in every character in the show,” Headland says. “The show is an onion. Each episode peels away to reveal something else. I hope the experience of watching it is both suspenseful and satisfying.”

So What Do You Think?

The trailer for The Acolyte definitely covers a LOT. It sets the premise of what will be happening in this series. It moves quickly, it shows quite a few new characters, and it sure looks like it will be building backstory for later Star Wars events that are already known. It is fun to see a different era of Jedi with the High Republic. Previously they had only appeared in the publishing series that covered that era. The trailer appears to show what will happen over the course of several episodes as the threat to the Jedi is realized, investigated, and then discovered. I’m very curious how this threat, that is revealed in the final seconds of the trailer, will connect to the larger Star Wars story. I can’t wait to watch The Acolyte when it arrives on June 4, 2024 on Disney+.
