June is Pride Month. Ahead of its arrival, the Disney Pride Collection has arrived on Disney Store. This collection includes clothing, accessories, pins, mugs, and more! They are all filled with the colors of the rainbow. They can be ordered today so they arrive in time for pride month. The Disney Pride Collection was also created by members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community. Pride Month Origins
Pride Month traces its origins to the Stonewall Riots of June 1969, sparked by a police raid on the Stonewall Inn in New York City, where LGBTQ+ individuals, notably transgender women of color like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, fought back against discrimination. The following year, the first Pride marches were held, evolving into a global movement advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, visibility, and acceptance. Today, Pride Month, observed annually in June, features a myriad of events worldwide, including parades, festivals, and educational activities, all aimed at celebrating LGBTQ+ identity, raising awareness about LGBTQ+ issues, and promoting equality and justice.
