Rian Johnson has revealed the title for the third film in the Knives Out murder mystery series featuring Benoit Blanc. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Johnson revealed that the film will be called Wake Up Dead Man. This will be the follow-up to the original Knives Out and its sequel Glass Onion. The post and reveal of the title treatment can be seen here:
Daniel Craig first appeared as Benoit Blanc in the original Knives Out in 2019. In that film, he was hired to discover the truth behind the murder of arlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer). He teamed up with nurse Marta Cabrera (Ana de Armas) to figure out this case that was full of angry relatives and red herrings. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery came next and found Blanc heading to Greece to peel back the layers of a tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) and an eclectic group of disruptors.
The video revealing the title has Daniel Craig in character as Benoit Blanc narrating a brief summary leading up to the new title. It can be seen here:
In Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the suave Southern investigator will have a whole new mystery with a new colorful cast of suspects in under the direction of Rian Johnson. At this point, it isn’t known what the setting for this film will be or who will be in it… beyond Daniel Craig.
“I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is,” Johnson posted on X in a thread when announcing the film’s title. “There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.”
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will be arriving sometime in 2025 on Netflix. What do you think of this title? What do you think of this series? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
