New entrance gates have begun to appear at the main entrance of Disney California Adventure Park. These new gates will be replacing the current turnstiles found at the entrances to both Disney California Adventure Park and Disneyland Park. For those Disney fans who have visited Disneyland Paris, these gates may look familiar. They are made by the same company. The new gates are a part of an initiative at the Disneyland Resort to enhance and improve the guest arrival experience.
“We continue to invest in the overall guest experience, and our updated, enhanced entry gates will really elevate the process of arriving at our theme parks. The test entry gate installed at Disney California Adventure Park will enable our teams to get hands-on experience that will help inform the final install beginning later this year.”
– Kevin Gidden, General Manager Arrival Experience
The first of these new gates appeared on the West side of the Disney California Adventure Park gates for testing. Daps Magic team member Steven stopped by the Disneyland Resort today and took photos of the first new gates to appear overnight. The new entry gates will be tested initially and then removed. This will be to make way for the official construction and installation beginning later this year. This process will be done in phases to minimize guest impact.
When the project is completed in 2025, all of the new entrance gates will be ADA compliant. ECVs, wheelchairs and strollers will be able to enter through any entry gate into the parks at the Disneyland Resort. These gates will be found at the main entrances of the two theme parks, hotels, monorail and also Downtown Disney District.
The gates will open automatically after a Guest scans their ticket and takes a photo. There will be one cast member at each entry gate to validate tickets and photos along with welcoming guests as they enter the parks. These updated entry gates will also have an access point for Guests to tap their MagicBand+. Check out the photos that Steven took here:
