On Friday, March 15, 2024, the CHOC Walk season, as 2024 CHOC Walk Ambassador Kara calls it, kicked off during a special event at the Disneyland Hotel. This year’s CHOC Walk will be taking place on July 21, 2024. The event had some delicious snacks (including all the churros one could eat), representatives of CHOC and the Disneyland Resort, CHOCO Bear, and even Mickey Mouse! Most importantly, there were supporters/influencers and walkers from the CHOC Walk through the years. This was a night to celebrate and support CHOC and the many children and their family that it supports.
During the event there was a ceremony that was hosted by CHOC’s Assistant Vice President Community Engagement, Zach Abrams. The ceremony included a look back at last year’s CHOC Walk in the hurricane (look for Mr. Daps in the video!), details about this year’s event, an introduction of this year’s CHOC Walk Ambassador, and a few words spoken by Disneyland Ambassador Jada Young. This was capped off by the arrival of Mickey Mouse and the gift of a 2024 CHOC Walk piece of art that was created and signed by artist Jeff Granito. 2024 CHOC Walk Ambassador Kara
The 2024 CHOC Walk Ambassador Kara has an incredible story that starts off scary and becomes inspiring. She uses her story to inspire others and to make a difference in the community.
Kara was born with Respiratory Distress Syndrome and early-onset neonatal sepsis. This was very dangerous and could cause inflammation. The inflammation and also blood clotting could be life threatening. Thankfully Kara was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital and minutes after being born, she was admitted to CHOC. Her dad was able to walk in the underground tunnel with her as she was moved to CHOC. Because of this, Kara was able to receive the care she needed and is now almost 13 years old! She also is a force for good!

Prize Fulfillment Details
- Prizes earned up to the event date must be picked up during event check-in July 19 and 20.
- *Prizes earned post-event date will have numerous fulfillment options, including office pick up dates, paying to ship to home or opting out of prizes. For more details, visit the event check in page.
- Post-event prize deadline: August 21 – all donations including matching gifts, must be received by this date.
- If extra shipment option is selected, post-event prizes will arrive between October – November 2024.
- Prizes will NOT be sent to P.O. boxes.
- Prizes will be awarded based on time stamped receipt of gift online.
- All donations in form of cash or check must be received by the CHOC Foundation offices, verified, and date stamped in order to qualify funds towards prize packages.
