In 2024, Storybook Land or Le Pays des Contes de Fées at Disneyland Paris will be celebrating its 30th anniversary. Since 1994, it has been taking guests on journeys into their favorite stories. As part of the celebration of this milestone, new scenes will be added to this charming attraction. One will bring Frozen into the attraction and the other Winnie the Pooh.
Le Pays des Contes de Fées has been delighting Disneyland Paris guests of all ages with its whimsical storytelling since 1994. It gives a relaxing boat ride that celebrates the stories of Walt Disney Animation Studios stories and fables. These cruises include music, landscape, and miniatures. It was based on an original idea that Walt Disney came up with himself. The Disneyland Paris version is a reinvention of the classic Storybook Land Canal Boats that have been cruising through Fantasyland at Disneyland since 1956. The Disneyland version of the attraction has seen updates through the years that also include the addition of a Frozen seen. The Paris version has different scenes than those found at Disneyland. They include recreations of Night on Bald Mountain from Fantasia, Belle’s Village from Beauty and the Beast, and even Rapunzel’s Tower from Tangled.
Through the years, the attraction has seen different scenes be updated. In 2018, Murray visited Disneyland Paris and took the following video:
Artwork that looks like it came right out of the pages of a storybook have been released by Disneyland Paris for these two new scenes that are coming to Le Pays des Contes de Fées in 2024. Check out the artwork and details about each of these scenes here:
Frozen
While work continues in Walt Disney Studios Park on a new Frozen area, a new Frozen scene will arrive in Le Pays des Contes de Fées next year in miniature form. This will fit in with the other fairytale locales in Fantasyland. Imagineers are working with Disneyland Paris Central Shops to create a details model for the attraction of the majestic North Mountain. It will be covered in a blanket of snow and Elsa’s Ice Palace will be seen at its peak. Guests will also be able to see Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven on their way to Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post (and Sauna) as they drift by the scene.
Winnie The Pooh
The new Winnie the Pooh scene in Le Pays des Contes de Fées will bring a charming little moment to life with Winnie the Pooh and Tigger too! This new scene will be located near the cosy cottage of the Seven Dwarfs. The new scene promises to show Winnie the Pooh in their lovely Hundred Acre Woods when the attraction gets this magical update for its 30th anniversary.
“There’s something magical about taking something full scale and displaying it in miniature, it’s something Walt himself was obsessed with,” shares Keith Rector, Art Director at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris. “I grew up nearby Disneyland in California and Storybook Land has always been my favorite attraction. When I joined the team in Paris, we started a conversation about how we can bring new stories to Le Pays des Contes de Fées. I wanted to introduce new characters to this realm of storybook classics.”
Disneyland Paris shared that the updated scenes and a complete refurbishment of the attraction will be happening over the course of the next year. Daps Magic will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available. What do you think about Le Pays des Contes de Fées getting these updates and a complete refurbishment?
