Today the BBC revealed a video of the new theme recording for Doctor Who. This is a beautiful arrangement of the iconic Doctor Who Theme that fans have known and loved for years. The theme was released on Twitter. It was recorded as Doctor Who celebrates 60 years. For this a new recording Doctor Who @ 60: A Musical Celebration is now available on BBC Sounds. It features music from Murray Gold and Segun Akinola. It is performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the BBC Singers and is conducted by Alastair King. The full concert also includes the first live performance of Ruby Sunday’s theme: The Life of Sunday. Ruby is the Doctor’s new companion. The concert also includes the them tune for the Fifteenth Doctor called Fifteenth and also the new iconic Doctor Who Theme that is heard above. It was reimagined by composer Murray Gold. There are also other songs in the performance that fans will recognize including I Am The Doctor, Abigail’s Song, This is Gallifrey, The Impossible Girl, I Am A Good Man and The Shepherd’s Boy. There are also other fun look backs at the last 60 years of Doctor Who during this concert.
Doctor Who @ 60: A Musical Celebration can be found BBC Radio 2 Radio 2 on October 15th. More details can be found here. It was also filmed and will be on BBC iPlayer at a later date. The upcoming 60th anniversary specials for Doctor Who will be appearing on the BBC in the UK and Ireland and on Disney+ around the rest of the globe. The specials will see the return of David Tenant and Catherine Tate to the series ahead of the arrival of Ncuti Gatwa in the role of The Doctor.
