Disney VoluntEARS Celebrate Disney100 Making a Global Impact

On Monday, October 16, The Walt Disney Company celebrated its 100th anniversary across its media networks, theme parks, and beyond. As part of the celebration, Disney100-themed Disney VoluntEARS activations were hosted in multiple locations around the U.S. Volunteerism is deeply rooted in the company’s culture, and the projects that took place in honor of the 100th anniversary reflect how Cast Members and employees lead with heart.

Since 1983, the Disney VoluntEARS program has provided opportunities for Disney Cast Members and employees to contribute their personal time and expertise to make a positive impact in their communities. As such, Disney VoluntEARS are renowned around the world for their professionalism, enthusiasm, and efficiency in performing services for others. Collectively, they have contributed nearly 13 million hours of service around the world.

For more than 20 years, The Walt Disney Company and its Disney VoluntEARS have supported the USO and shared the magic of Disney with the people actively serving in the U.S. military. Disney VoluntEARS in Burbank, California; Bristol, Connecticut; and Washington, D.C., continued the company’s global support of the USO Monday by assembling 10,000 holiday-themed care packages that will be delivered to service members around the world. In addition, they signed USO flags and typed e-messages of gratitude to the military via USO and Disney’s Campaign to Connect webpage that will be sent during the holidays.

The Disney100-inspired activations didn’t end there. Throughout the day, Disney VoluntEARS supported the Foundation for Hospital Art by painting multi-panel Disney-themed murals that will be donated to children’s hospitals and healthcare facilities; assembled skateboards and decorated and assembled STEM and Superhero kits for foster youth, benefiting the nonprofit organization Foster Love; and, continuing the company’s longstanding support of Make-A-Wish, decorated Disney-themed cards and envelopes with uplifting messages for kids waiting for their most heartfelt Disney wish.

In addition to all the Disney VoluntEARS activations that took place on October 16, Cast Members and employees around the world participated in more than 70 VoluntEARS projects from September 1–October 16, bringing impact to local communities where we live and work.
