Actress Suzanne Somers Dies at Age 76

Actress Suzanne Somers has passed away at the age 76. Somers was known for her roles in Step by Step and Three’s Company. Her publicist, R. Couri Hay, shared the news.

“Suzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of October 15th. She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years,” Hay said in a statement released on behalf of her family.

The statement continued and said that Somers “was surrounded by her loving husband Alan, her son Bruce, and her immediate family.”

“Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16th. Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly,” the statement continued.

Somers revealed in July that she was again fighting cancer. “Since I have been taking time off from work, many of you have asked for more details about my health. As you know, I had breast cancer two decades ago, and every now and then it pops up again, and I continue to bat it down,” she shared on Instagram. “This is not new territory for me. I know how to put on my battle gear and I’m a fighter.”

Her original diagnoses with breast cancer was in 2001.

Somers has a longtime relationship with Disney. Her hit show Three’s Company aired on ABC from 1977 to 1983. Her handprints can be found at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. She also hosted the 1996 Christmas Day Parade for Disney. More recently she appeared on Dancing with the Stars.
