EPCOT to Host Walt Disney World Resort’s Disney100 Celebration

On January 27, 2023, the Disneyland Resort began celebrating the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company. The Disney100 celebration at Disneyland includes the opening of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, two new nighttime spectaculars, festive statues, merchandise, outfits for Mickey & friends, food, and a whole lot more. Walt Disney World Resort will be starting its celebration of Disney100 later this year. The focal point for this Disney100 celebration will be EPCOT.

This celebration will “honor the legacy of Disney storytelling and unforgettable characters that have entertained and inspired people of all ages for a century” During the celebration, guests will get to enjoy new experiences to celebrate this milestone and also the culmination of the EPCOT transformation. During the Disney100 celebration, guests will get to meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in their platinum attire. They will also be able to take photos with a platinum sculpture of the one who started it all. Spaceship Earth will also be lighting up at night with a special lighting design in honor of the occasion.

Along with all of the aforementioned experiences, Disney has announced that a new nighttime spectacular will be coming to EPCOT later this year. This will be a show that will “unite us through commonalities of the heart.” It will include fireworks, lasers, music, and light. It also will have an original composition that will be paired with songs from the Disney songbook. This show aims to remind people that of how we are more alike than different, “connecting our hearts together as one,” Disney shared.
