Two sports shows will not be making a return to Disney’s streaming service. Disney+ has canceled The Might Ducks: Game Changers and also Big Shot. Each show had run for two seasons on the streaming service.
The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers continues the story of The Mighty Ducks movies from the 90s. The first season saw the return of Emilio Estevez as Coach Bombay. Lauren Graham really led the cast and was the central adult figure in the show, however. The second season was quite a bit different with Estevez departing the show and Josh Duhamel stepping in. The show was run by Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa.
Big Shot starred John Stamos. In the show, he plays a disgraced college basketball coach who ends up taking a job as the coach for a private all-girls school. The series was created by David E. Kelley, Dean Lorey and Brad Garrett.
The cancelation of these two shows came as no surprise. The Hollywood Reporter shared that Disney insiders said both shows were given a second season by Peter Rice. Those decisions were viewed by the insiders as some of his “questionable deal-making.” Disney has also been cutting costs across the board.
